We wanted to post this picture of two of our Sunday school kids decorated like "lilies of the field". Our lesson was based on having to much stuff in our lives to keep us from keeping our focus on God. Not even Solomon was dressed like one of these with all of his wealth. Here is our new vehicle, which by the way is very nice and rides great. It is an 06 Envoy.

Here is Jerry, talking (as usual) to Shane & his father-in law, Keith. Another tractor being pulled.

Here are some pictures from the farm show in Louisville. The first one is a tractor that was in the pull. This tractor was in the farm show. Just a fancy tractor I guess.

Excavator Project
Well it has been awhile since we posted anything and a really long time since I posted something on here. It has been pretty busy here at school with everything finishing up and then the job search on top of that. One of the things I have been working on is a project for a class called Mechatronics. My teammate (Patrick) and I decided to make a game that is loosely based on the crane game you see at grocery stores sometimes where you control the claw and try to pick up a prize. For our project we used an excavator toy and a plastic tub with Easter eggs in it and the goal was to operate the excavator to try and pick up the egg. We presented the project on the last day of class and it worked quite well. Patrick ran the demo and was able to pick up an egg really quick to show it working properly, then our professor tried to play and showed how difficult the game is because he was unable to pick up an egg. You also only have 60 seconds to pick one up before the game shuts off and you have to start over again. The only piece that we didn't build was the excavator arm which we bought and it had the motors in it to make it move but we did have to hack into the wiring in a way so that we could control those motors with our buttons. We also designed the rotation of the entire arm with a lazy susan, a rubberband, and a small motor. I got a few pictures of the project the night before we presented it and they are below.
Patrick and myself with our project setup in front of us.
Here Patrick is getting some practice on the controls gathering the eggs.
The first picture is an operators view of the arm and egg bin. The second picture is the egg being dumped into a catch screen I made to sit in the corner of the bin. The screen let the sand fall back into the tub but obviously holds the egg out.

We had quite a few people from the house stopping and watching us put the finishing touches on the project and give a few demos.
Here is a short video of the excavator at work picking up an egg and putting it into the catch screen.
P.S. I have to credit dad with the idea of using Easter eggs. We tried sand and rice but the arm did not have enough power to dig into those things like we wanted it to.

The mini truck is very versatile! It is being used as a tent for a baby calf (which you can't really see) Next is Hanah Serlin helping save a life! Get that baby warmed up, thanks Hannah!!
