Some Stuff From Burlington, CO
Here is some stuff that I saw while I was working in Burlington, CO. Colorado may be a pretty cool place but Burlington is not like the part of Colorado that everyone likes. Burlington was not real nice and didn't have a whole lot there.
This is a grain cart I saw in a field that was one mile square. It has an auger that will pivot out in either direction.

Here are the head haulers I was telling dad about. Some of the custom harvesters use their grain trailers to haul their grain heads. I haven't had a chance to really look over this setup to figure out exactly how they do it yet. I do know they use an attachment on the feeder house of the combine to lift it up. They call it a feeder house crane.

These are self propelled square balers that were sitting at the dealership. They use a lot of self propelled machinery out here. I even saw a self propelled bale pickup wagon that was still being used.

Garden City Work
Well these pictures are a little older but I thought you guys might still like to see them. These are all from the Garden City, KS area. I took all of them while I was on parts runs to customers.
These first three are of a couple combines that I went out to see because one of them broke a rotor gearbox. The rotor gearbox is one of the most important parts of a New Holland combine, obviously since New Holland is the Twin Rotor combine. The first picture is of the one I actually worked on. We got it working as you can see. The second and third are just a couple of the other combines working in this crew.

This is a fence that I saw while driving down the road and thought it was pretty cool. All of the fence posts are rocks and then the really tall rocks make up the gateway.

Here are two semi's that I saw at a truck stop outside of Garden City that I thought looked pretty neat. Maybe Dad should paint his grain truck like this.

The Demo Combine
Well I finally got the pictures off of Dane's camera, the other intern. All of these photos are of the demo combine that we have traveling with us.
We needed to fuel the combine up and the only place was a gas station down the road. So Dane and I took it down there and started pumping. In the last picture it shows both of the hose from the pump in the combine tank so that we could pump faster. We shut the pump down too because it only allowed $75 dollars at a time so we each used our card four times before it finally stopped. I am sitting on top of the combine running the nozzles.
This is me driving the combine down the road to take it to a farmer's house for a demo.
This is just the demo sitting in a parking lot before it had even been ran yet. It has a 40 ft head on the front of it.
This is when the demo was given to a guy to borrow while some stuff was fixed on his and this is what happened to it. In the first picture that is the customers combine still able to run. After we got the combine back we had to fix a bunch of stuff on it that had gotten bent. Luckily it was mostly just sheet metal and some guards, so they were easier to fix/replace. AS you can see from the pictures it was leaning pretty hard to the left which is where the unload auger is, because of the that the auger was only about 7 ft off the ground. They couldn't get anything underneath it to catch the wheat so they had to dump it on the ground.

Garden City Equipment
Well here is a couple of the pieces of equipment at the dealership in Garden City, KS. I just thought they were cool looking so I am putting them on here.
These two are of a self propelled mower made in Germany, I think. The sides fold down so it mows like 30 feet at a time. I know the Willers are looking for a new mower so maybe they should look into one of these.

The last two are of a forage harvester that has a non directional head on it. That means it can cut any way you want and the head is on it is for corn silage. It is a pretty mean looking machine and I really wanted to see it run but it is not the time for silage. It has a 12 cylinder Mercedes diesel engine that produces just over 800 horsepower, so it is pretty tough.
